Sponsor Deal!

As I said earlier today, I will be going on a trip soon. I'll be gone for over 2 weeks in April and I didn't want to charge the full price for sponsorships if I'm gone half the month. So I came up with this deal:

Yeah, that's right. You'll receive a free spot(same size as the purchased ad) for April if you buy a spot for May.

An Etsy Birthday Wishlist

My birthday is coming up next month. I actually won't be spending it at home as I'll be in...drumroll please...Singapore. However, I still felt like making a wishlist as Etsy just never runs out of cool things.

For instance I found these amazing vegan bags! They also have stunning satchels in divine colors.

Pretty much all brooches from this store are amazing.

I'm a sucker for art on wooden plaques, especially paintings as cool as the one below.

Custom steampunk owls, I can't believe how cool they are.

Does anyone know why Japanese cats look so much cooler? I can't figure out why, but I do have some proof here.

This might not be the most mature thing to ask for my 21st birthday, but this stuffed creature just makes me melt.

I've always been very fond of the teardrop shape. And of earrings. And of mint.

An owl needle gauge, isn't that just perfect for a knitting owl fan?

I don't own a lot of big bangles, partly because it's just hard to find a bracelet in my small size, partly because they can be a bit too flashy for my taste. This one is perfect though, and it looks so delicate!

I am such a big fan of V for Vendetta, so you can probably guess how excited I was when I spotted these brooches. There's one in the original colors of the Guy Fawkes mask and even one in gold.

This perfume bottle has been on my wishlist for ages! It's just perfect.

Lovely Movies: the Other End of the Line

Ok, perhaps Jesse Metcalfe isn't Academy Award material and perhaps the story isn't really profound, but a girl is allowed to appreciate a romcom every once in a while, right?

And I have to admit it was quite an original story!

Unfortunately I couldn't find a proper trailer I could post, but you can check it out here.

Sushi Cat

I may not have been able to blog as much this month, but to make up for that I have a great tip for you today! If you enjoy online games, have a thing for cats and love sushi (and I'm thinking a lot of you do), you'll absolutely love the game Sushi Cat.

The object of the game is to make your cat as fat as possible by feeding it sushi, it can then save it's kitten from the bacon-eating dog. Of course!

There are actually two versions out there and both are equally as lovely. The bonus in the second one is that you can buy outfits for your cat. The first one looks a tad bit cuter though.

Enjoy!

Bunnies All Around

I'd been wanting a blouse with a cute collar for ages, so when H&M released them with this fantastic bunny print I was sold in an instance.

I wore it with a matchin long-sleeved shirt, a simple pair of pants and some lovely knee socks.

As a collar is pretty much jewelry already, I kept it simple with accessories and only wore a bunny ring.

And to top it off I used a tiny bit of Scarlett by Cacharel. I love that scent and the bottle, or mostly the huge cap, is so beautiful!

What's your favorite scent right now?

Lovely Movies: Stranger Than Fiction

It seems I have a lot of absolute favorite movies, but this is definitely one of them. Stranger Than Fiction is just such a special story and it has the perfect balance between being funny and somewhat heartbreaking.

Now I know Will Ferrell isn't everyone's cup of tea. He's done some bad movies, but he's done some amazing ones too. This one possibly being his best. And he is backed by an incredile cast of actors: Emma Thompson, Dustin Hoffman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Queen Latifa and they also persuaded Tom Hulce, who hadn't really done much since Amadeus.

If you have access to a dvd with extras I suggest you watch them. It has some lovely interviews as well as some original deleted scenes(as I know those are often pretty boring).

If you know of any similar movies, let me know in the comments, I'd love to hear about them!

I'm back!...hopefully

I think I'm finally getting over this flu. Ok, I don't feel great yet, but I don't have a fever and don't fear for my life anymore when I caugh. Also, I think I might be ready for some blogging again!

Some things have happened when I was sick, some lovely things!

I got this portrait from Rachele.
I found out I'm going on a trip in a few weeks. More on that later!
And I got some things in the mail that will make an appearance soon.

So stay tuned:)

Marvelous Music: Laura Veirs

Honestly I find it hard to write anything about Laura Veirs as her music has something that can't really be put into words. You should just listen and enjoy the gorgeous video below!

Uh oh...

For the past week or so I haven't been feeling well and as of today I have a fever and no voice whatsoever. If I can drag myself to the computer again I might still post because thankfully I have some posts pre-made. If not, I hope to be back soon!

Anyway, isn't this the perfect band/song combination for this moment?!

Lovely Movies: Love Happens

To be honest I never really enjoyed Jennifer Aniston(not even in Friends), I never really hated her either, but I just wasn't drawn to her at all. One movie recently showed me how terribly wrong I was though. And that was Love Happens.

I figured that such a mainstream movie with mainstream actors wouldn't really be all that special. But it was a lot more profound than I could've guessed. In fact I was very pleasantly surprised!

It even made me quite fond of Jennifer! I might even go and see more of her movies... Any recommendations?

LUSHified: Ultra Bland

Ultra Bland is probably the most multifunctional LUSH product out there. It's a face cleanser, make-up remover and you can even use it as a cream sometimes. The girl at the store told me it's very soothing when your nose is all sore from a cold, I tried it and it really is!

The reason I bought it is mostly the make-up removal option. I find that if you want a make-up remover that works it's usually really harsh and leaves my skin feeling dry and irritated. This stuff is moisturising, mild, yet even manages to take off waterproof make-up without a fuss.

I still had some make-up remover in stock, but don't even feel like using it anymore. I love this stuff!

Extra tip: If you try a lip tint tester in store and can't get the color of your fingers, just dip it in some Ultra Balm and it comes right off;)

Pretty Paintings: Chrystal Chan

Chrystal Chan has made some spectacular oil paintings. Though she definitely has her own style, she likes to play around with a lot of different colors, vibes and compositions. Some of her work has a very medieval look to it, others have more modern subjects. It's beautiful and a bit eerie, just the way I like it.

All images belong to Chrystal Chan of course.

Owl Things Considered

When I recently bought a pair of earrings, the woman at the store handed them to me in a cute paper bag. It wasn't until I came home that I noticed the adorable owl on the back.

Also, here are the earrings in case you were wondering. Don't they have a lovely vintage look to them?

Did you find any surprising owls lately?

Marvelous Music: Lucy Rose

Lucy Rose is a lovely singer/songwrite who's done a lot of backing vocals for the previously-blogged-about Bombay Bicycle Club. She's currently recording her debut album, but thankfully the internet is full of awesome songs to listen to already.

Though she never played her music for people until she was 18, she doesn't seem to be lacking any stage-experience. In fact she was very good live. And I love that she even had a friend with her that played the cello.

At the Bombay Bicycle Club gig she did both the opening act as well as a lot of the backing vocals. You can, or hear, her collaborate with them here too:

Though I have a small EP of hers I can not wait till the actual album. In the meantime, YouTube it is.

Making Envelopes

A while back I purchased these lovely wooden envelope templates. I used them occasionally, but it wasn't until recently that I found the perfect material for them... old calendars! I had kept a few cute ones because I just couldn't throw them out. When I found them again I instantly knew what to do and started making envelopes.

I made these small ones from an asian art calendar (which happen to be perfect for wrapping my kokeshi bookmarks):

And larger ones from a beautiful fairy calendar I had.

Can't wait to send some of these off! And hopefully I'll also find some more calendars in the house so I can make some more envelopes. It is addicting!

Spotted

I'm so excited spring is coming! I've already seen some flowers pop up and it's making me really happy. So today is all about blossoms and green popping up everywhere.

To say I adore this dress would be a serious understatement.

I'm usually not one for wedges, but these won me over.

Enameled flowers are so pretty! I'm quite surprised I don't have any.

This perfume is so cute and convenient, I bet it smells lovely too!

I'm sure that this necklace will make every person you meet excited for spring too.

And if you're in a not so serious mood...

What's even cooler than a hedgehog? This little one!

These earrings are the perfect spring colors!

It's getting warm enough to enjoy salads again!

Lovely Movies: Le Havre

This was a truly special film! And despite it being recent, it has a very old, kind of Hitchcock feel to it. I was quite surprised when I suddenly saw euros in the actors' hands.

It was heartwarming and showed how kind people can be, even in a sometimes cruel world. And it does such a great job at getting you to relate to all the people in this movie.

Though I wouldn't call this a funny movie, it definitely had some funny moments. And it was just so unbelievably good.

I highly recommend Le Havre! If you have can find it, either in a small cinema or somehow on dvd, I suggest you watch it. Especially if you're a lover of old or foreign cinema! This film had an atmosphere that's extremely rare these days.
