Owl Things Considered

Today I'd like to show you something that combines three of my favorite things! Owls, stationery and pretty tins…

I just adore these little sets of memos. Of course, the owl is one of my favorites, but I also love that adorable hedgehog. And I really like how these little notes fold over to create a tiny moving animal. So simple, yet so very clever.

Anyway, there are also tons of birds available, as well as a panda, and -to complete my top 3- this adorable bunny.

You can find the whole collection here on eBay, but there are also a few designs available at this Etsy Shop.

Lovely Movies: The Amazing Spider-man

When I heard The Amazing Spider-Man was being made, I was not so excited… I loved the Tobey Maguire movies (except for that awful third…) and did not see the point in an extra Spider-Man at all. That is, until I actually watched it.

First of all, it's thankfully not the exact same plot. Second of all, it was such a blast to watch! I loved the sense of humor, the fact that Spider-Man acted his age, and just the overall pace of the scenes. I do find myself getting weary of the endings of movies like this though. They tend to be so quick and action-packed that my brain just zones out.

Now I hear that the sequel was very, very bad. But after the set-up created here, I actually would like to know what happens next. So if I get the chance I will definitely give the second one the fair shot I now finally gave the first.

Mood & Music Mosaic #13

Paris Nights/New York Mornings - Corinne Bailey Rae

It is getting warmer and all of a sudden it is wonderful to be outside again. There is little I love more than exploring the city when the weather is nice. To not be in a rush, not be carrying a heavy coat around, but to just relax and go wherever I please. To lose track of time as I walk through unfamiliar streets and discover little gems along the way.

What do you like to do on those glorious warm-yet-not-too-hot spring days?

Lovely Movies: The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

Now I wouldn't exactly call this a "lovely" movie, but it's a very good one that tells a very important tale. I still remember being very shocked the first time I saw it. Less so when I saw it again this week, but I still cried.

I'd actually be a little worried if you could watch this movie without crying at all. Granted, it didn't pack quite the punch that Grave of the Fireflies did, but it still hits you were it hurts. And that's exactly what it should do.

Now, every year in May we have memorials for the war victims and a celebration of freedom and peace, and I have to admit that some years I dodge all the war movies and pop in a dvd of my own, but this year I decided to watch this powerful story again. I have not read the book, so I can not recommend that, but the film is absolutely amazing!

Birthday

So my birthday was quite recently. I had an adorable little birthday party that involved pastries, rose lemonade and a wonderful card game. And through the magic of snail mailed gifts I also celebrated with a dear friend from overseas.

Let's start with cake! Since I had a little party I decided to go with fancy pastries... One of the best decisions I've ever made. I got these adorable pastries with red fruit and chocolate mousse. They were as divine as they were adorable!

But my day started with opening some amazing birthday mail that was beautiful inside and out, so let's take a peek.

I received these amazing animal hair pins and brooches. The three cats I've had in my life so far have been black, grey and kind of white, so it seems this set was pretty much made for me! I also adore the wooden bobby pins.

This amazing owl package held an Alice in Wonderland coloring book! I already did one page, which I posted here.

I also received a gorgeous monogrammed journal I'd been eyeing. And some pencils that are a perfect match for it!

This golden package held a stunning book called the Vintage Tea Party Treasury; which I'm sure I'll show you soon.

One of the friends at my party gave me these adorable stamps. There's an owl, a penguin and a cute little heart. I also received an ink pad in one of my favorite colors, so I'm good to go and can start stamping whenever I want.

I hope you enjoyed this glimpse of my birthday! There are actually still a few more things I hope to show you later...

Owl Things Considered

There are plenty of fake deer available for your walls, but I love it when people do a little something different. And of course I also love owls, so I immediately took a liking to this wonderful owl from Macheanimal on Etsy.

And the shop carries plenty of other creatures. Mostly animals that actually exist (and lots of different cat and dog breeds), but there are also a few jackalopes. And I love the touch of glitter on the antlers of the one in the collage below!

There are over a hundred beautiful items in the shop, so follow this link to check out the rest of them!

Mood & Music Mosaic #12

Never Be That Tough - Simone White

It's a pretty crazy time here and I'm doing my best not to get too overwhelmed, so I very intentionally try to relax whenever I can. And I thought these soothing items fit that very well. I love the serene colors and subtle patterns.

What do you do to keep your cool during stressful times?

Plans & Goals: May

April was over so soon! I had a great time, but I also don't mind being one step closer to summer. In fact, I'd be quite happy to say goodbye to the crazy hailstorms we've had this past month. Bring on the sunshine! And I'd also love to:

  • Post pictures of my birthday and some of the lovely gifts I received.
  • Go see Monsieur Chocolat in the cinema.
  • Make some sort of collage.
  • Organize the closet in my bedroom.
  • Go to Lush and exchange 5 empties for a free face mask.
  • Start reading the 2nd KonMari book.
  • Work on my handwriting/lettering skills.
  • Finish or cast on a knitting project.
  • Have another coloring/audio book session.

What are you up to? Anything exciting planned for May?
